Burglaries and thefts reported

A woman suspected of cashing a $600 check at Capital City Bank, 4000 W. Sixth St., and a man who waited outside for her in a van were arrested Tuesday morning by Lawrence Police. Bank employees called police after they realized the check had been stolen. Police notified Douglas County Sheriff’s officers about the incident and gave them a description of the van. Sheriff’s officers stopped the van on U.S. Highway 40 west of Lawrence. The woman, 46, Topeka, and the man, 36, Independence, Mo., were taken to Douglas County Jail. There was no word on charges.

A 20-year-old female Kansas University student reported that a Sony Vaio notebook, valued at $2,500, two Bose speakers, two computer tables and a black nylon computer case were taken from her residence in the 1400 block of Apple Lane. The incident occurred between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Monday. A Lawrence Police report listed total losses at $2,572.

A 55-year-old Lawrence woman told Lawrence Police someone had broken into her residence in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane sometime between June 15 and Monday. Several items were taken, including a 27-inch television, GameCube and a laptop computer. Losses were listed at $3,400.

Condition reports

Joshua Suess, 18, Lenexa, was released Monday from KU Med, Kansas City, Kan. Suess was injured Sunday when the sport utility vehicle he was driving overturned on East 2000 Road just north of North 100 Road. A passenger, Travis M. Schuh, 23, Lenexa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
