County commissioners will hear an annual report from County Appraiser Marion Johnson on the recently completed appraisal process. Johnson has previously estimated residential values generally will increase between 3 percent and 7 percent, while commercial property generally will increase less than 5 percent.

Background

Johnson has said this year’s increases in property values will be slower than in past years because of the weakening economy and area real estate market. Douglas County property owners should receive their change-of-value notices during the first week of March.
