The Producers’ sells $4.7 million in tickets

— "The Producers" sold more than $4.7 million in tickets during a monthlong run at the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis that ended Dec. 8.

Fred Krohn, president of Theater Live, local presenter of the show, said nearly 71,000 tickets were sold, compared with sales of 51,000 to 55,000 for runs of similar length in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Groups came from the Dakotas, Wisconsin, Iowa and as far away as Winnipeg, Manitoba, to see the national touring company of the Broadway musical, based on the Mel Brooks movie.

"The Producers" is playing in St. Louis and will travel to San Diego; Tempe, Ariz.; Seattle; Portland, Ore.; San Francisco; Los Angeles and Boston.
