Jazz Museum hosts festival
Kansas City, Mo ? Livin’ on the Vine, an outdoor jazz festival, will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the American Jazz Museum, 18th and Vine. Performers include the James Ward Ensemble, Grupo Candela and the Lonnie Smith and Mark Whitfield Quartet.
WeeBop on the Vine, a companion festival for youth, will be from noon to 4 p.m. Performing will be the Kansas City Marching Cobras, Schlagle High School Marching Stallions, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School Jazz Ensemble and Sound of Glory Gospel Choir.
Admission to Livin’ on the Vine and WeeBop on the Vine is free.
From 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Mark Pender, a Kansas City native who plays on “The Conan O’Brien Show,” will perform in the Blue Room of the jazz museum. Admission is $10.
