Grammer to headline NBC’s 75th anniversary celebration
Los Angeles ? Kelsey Grammer will play a big part in NBC’s celebration of its 75th anniversary, hosting or co-hosting two specials and visiting his former “Cheers” cohorts on an episode of “Frasier.”
Grammer’s involvement makes sense after all, he’s been a fixture on the network since 1984, when he first appeared on “Cheers.” That’s longer than anyone else currently appearing in NBC’s prime-time schedule.
Still, Grammer says he’s not comfortable being mentioned in the same breath as people like Bob Hope, Sid Caesar and Bill Cosby, who will be honored as part of the celebration.
“I’m reluctant to include myself in that group, because they’re all unquestionably comedic geniuses,” Grammer says.
Grammer will serve as host of “Bob Hope’s Funniest Outtakes” April 30, the same night that he reunites with “Cheers” stars George Wendt, Rhea Perlman and John Ratzenberger on “Frasier.” On May 5, Grammer will also play co-host to the “NBC 75th Anniversary Special.”
