O Cafe: the character "O" represents peace and tranquility in Korean culture. The restaurant makes a point to play soothing music in its dining room, and hopes people not only find good food but also find relaxation as they enjoy their meal.
The restaurant offers beef, chicken and pork bulgogis, a dish of either marinated beef, chicken or pork. Some of the marinades are very spicy, but we have plenty of flavorful menu items with the heat dialed way down.
We also specialize in something called BBB, which is an an abbreviation for bibimbap. My understanding is bibimbap is a dish that includes a bowl of rice, sautéed vegetables, a chili pepper paste, and is topped with either beef, chicken, pork and an egg. Mix it all up, and you have a dish that may be as fun to eat as it is to say. (But not to spell. I finally gave up and handed my notebook to Cho.)
Our menu also includes fried dumplings, a few tofu dishes, and everything from beef to tuna rolls and a tasty little appetizer of Korean sweet potatoes that it hands out like chips and salsa.

This is a truly wonderful restaurant. The decor is a bit strange and the chairs, except for the round table in the middle of the restaurant, are not for the faint of heart.
The food however is worth it all. The descriptions of their dishes does not represent how they taste.
Dine there with friends so you can experience the different dishes offered. Be sure to get the dumplings to start!
The food and service was fantastic! My wife and I are visiting our son who currently works for MARS Chocolate in Topeka and lives in Lawrence. Flying into Kansas City from Boston, we arrived on the late side (9:30p.m.) By the time we decided we needed to have dinner, it was after 10:00 and many options were unavailable. Using Yelp, we came upon this gem of a restaurant and decided to give it a try. The restaurant was in a small strip mall and a little difficult to find. But when we did, it will be well worth it. The decor felt comfortable and our greeter/waitress/chef was very friendly and welcoming. Since it was after 11pm and we weren't in Europe, we were the only ones dining at that hour. Deciding to get a few items and eat family style, we started with the dumplings, offered fried or steamed, which were light and definitely made fresh. Next we had the beef bulgogi and Jap Chae. The bulgogi was very flavorful and light tasting. The Jap Chae was a sweet potato noodle dish that added a nice compliment to our meal. Since we like spicy foods (which you don't have to, to enjoy this food) it was great to enjoy both the homemade radish and cabbage kimchee condiment with our meal. In fact, they had to give us several refills we liked it so much! So find O Cafe and give it a try. You will be glad you found this gem. We will back....soon.
