Kids Voting Kansas is a grass root, nonpartisan, non-profit organization dedicated to educating Kansas youth about their rights and responsibilities and the process of participating in our American democracy. Kids Voting Kansas, as an affiliate of Kids Voting USA, provides a curriculum that meets both national and state social studies standards to participating schools. This curriculum allows students of all ages to experience the empowerment of voting while strengthening their information gathering and decision-making skills. The culminating event for the organization is the opportunity students are given to experience voting at an official (or simulated) polling place with a ballot that replicates an adult ballot.
Since 1992, hundreds of thousands of Kansas students in grades K-12 have had the opportunity to go to Kids Voting polls with parents or other adults to vote for President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Congressman, Governor, and a host of other state and local officials. A network of more than 1,000 volunteers from across Kansas, including high school students, local businesses, Rotary Clubs, Optimist Clubs and other numerous community organizations, help the Kids Voting effort.
