Simmons and Fawcett
Starla Victoria Simmons and Thomas Theodore Fawcett, both of Austin, Texas, were married Sept. 6, 2009, at Buford M. Watson Park in Lawrence, with Connie Burk officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Vickie Tolliver, Compton, Calif., and Tyrone Simmons, St. Jospeh, Mo.
The groom is the son of Steve Fawcett and Kathleen McCluskey-Fawcett, Lawrence, and Cindy Parry, Gentryville, Mo.
Bridesmaids were Clara Simmons and Adrian Kostecki. Groomsmen were John McCluskey and Tyson Simmons. Ringbearer was Henson Burk-Fawcett. Junior groomsman was Willis Simmons-Fawcett. Ushers were John Paul Fawcett, Juliette Niehuss, Gari Jones and Jasmine Keyes. Reader was Jake Fawcett. Greeters were Ashlee Simmons and Corrine Rogers. Musicians were Mose Buchele and Blair Langlinais. Trumpeter for the jazz march to the reception at Liberty Hall was Tommy Johnson.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph, Mo. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social welfare from Kansas University in 2005, and a master’s degree in social work from University of Texas in 2007. She is the program manager for Communities in Schools at Pecan Springs Elementary in Austin.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree with a dual major in anthropology and Latin American studies from KU in 2003, and master’s degrees in Latin American studies and journalism from University of Texas in 2008. He is a freelance journalist and the admissions and outreach coordinator for a private college in Austin.
Davison and Regnier
Sarah Regnier, Baldwin City, and T.J. Davison, Lawrence, were married Dec. 9, 2009, in Grand Cayman, with the Rev. Godfrey Meghoo officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Gretchen Regnier, Baldwin City. She is a 2004 graduate of Baldwin High School and is a court reporter at Shawnee County Courthouse.
The groom is the son of Thomas Davison, Littleton, Colo., and Mary Kay Howe, Lawrence. He is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence High School and owns Premier Floor Installation and Custom Shower and Backsplash.
A reception was given Dec. 20 at the Castle Tea Room in Lawrence.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Hoyt and Greene
Grace Anne Hoyt, Lawrence, and Steven Joseph Greene II, Topeka, were married Nov. 7, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Topeka, with Mike Halpin officiating.
The bride is the daughter of John Hoyt, Perry, and Jane Hoyt, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Steven and Janene Greene, Topeka.
Maid of honor was Faye McGlothlin. Best man was Ken Komiya. Bridesmaids were Sarah Yeager, Maggie McKinley and Julie Johnson. Groomsmen were Nate Kaberline, Nick Kaberline and Dan Billen.
A reception was given at Sixth Avenue Ballroom in Topeka.
The bride is a graduate of Free State High School and Kansas University. She is the committee assistant for State Sen. Carolyn McGinn.
The groom is a graduate of Topeka High School and Manhattan Christian College. He is the youth director at Lion and the Lamb Church and is also employed by the City of Topeka.
The couple reside in Topeka, but plan to move to St. Louis in June for Steve to begin a Masters in Divinity program at Covenant Theological Seminary.
Mayse and Neill
Karen Mayse, Lawrence, and Colin Neill, Michigan Valley, were married Oct. 24, 2009, at First Christian Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. Elvin Dillard officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Max and Nelda Mayse, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of John and Mary Neill, Michigan Valley.
Matron of honor was Tabitha Wilson. Man of honor was Brett Bolton. Maid of honor was Suzanne Mayse. Best man was John Neill. Groomsmen were Brett Gilliland and Nicholas Seal. Flower girl was Mallorie Glaser. Ushers were Michael Remmenga and Isaac Wilson. Music was provided by Tandy Reussner, organ; and Derk Landes, trumpet. Guest book attendant was Mallory Carey. Gift attendant was Michelle Seal. Servers were Heather Abel, Tina Darling, Stefanie Ward, Cecily Gutierrez and Kelly McCormack.

The groom is a 2002 graduate of Pomona High School. He attended Allen County Community College and is employed with the Lawrence school district at Lawrence High School.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Koester and Fritzel

The future bride is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, with an emphasis in strategic communications, from Kansas University in 2007. She is the administrative assistant and the marketing director for the International School of Arizona in Scottsdale.
The future groom is the son of Michael and Colleen Koester, Fort Myers, Fla. He is a 2003 graduate of Hayden High School in Topeka. He earned a bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science from KU in 2008. He is a set merchandiser for Crescent Crown Distributing Company in Phoenix.
The couple plan a July 3, 2010, wedding at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Sipe and Brandt
Walter and Lynn Brandt announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Brandt, all of Lawrence, to Timothy Ray Sipe, Holton.
The future bride is a 2005 graduate of Free State High School. She plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in physical education, with a concentration in health education, from Washburn University in May.
The future groom is the son of Ted and Susan Sipe, Holton. He is a 2006 graduate of Holton High School. He plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in political science from Baker University in May, and then pursue a law degree.

Carol Grieb and Steven Grieb, both of Lawrence, announce the engagement of their son, Owen Grieb, to Yoko Eto, both currently living in Tokyo.
The future bride is the daughter of Yuji and Chizumi Eto, Saiki, Japan. She earned a master’s degree in English as a second language education from Kansas University in 2008.
The future groom earned a law degree from KU in 2007.
The couple plan a spring 2010 wedding at the Aoshima Shrine in Miyazaki, Kyushu, Japan.
Uppal and Gronbeck-Tedesco
Jug and Madhu Uppal, Naperville, Ill., announce the engagement of their daughter, Karuna Uppal, New York City, to John Gronbeck-Tedesco, Austin, Texas.
The future bride earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University and works in New York City.
The future groom is the son of John and Susan Gronbeck-Tedesco, Lawrence. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Texas in 2009, where he is currently teaching.
The couple plan a June 19, 2010, wedding in Chicago.
Gordon and Mary Lou Schulenberg, Lawrence, will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary with a dinner.
The couple were married Feb. 17, 1975, in Vancouver, Wash. Gordon retired from Kansas University after 25 years. Mary Lou retired from KU after 19 years.
They have two daughters, Ruth Schulenberg, San Francisco, and Terrie Schulenberg and husband Oliver Uttley, Lawrence; two sons, Jason Gade and wife Janice, Aloha, Ore., and Dan Gade, Pasadena, Texas; and four grandchildren.
