Amy Thorpe and Jim Gabriel, both of Eudora, announce their engagement.
The future bride is the daughter of Richard and Lynda Thorpe, Papillion, Neb. She is a 1990 graduate of Papillion LaVista High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1994. She was a deputy sheriff in Lancaster County, Neb., from 1995 to 2004. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Arizona State University in 2007 and was a registered nurse in Mesa, Ariz.
The future groom is the son of Robert and Dee Gabriel, Eudora. He is a 1990 graduate of Eudora High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Kansas State University in 1994. He is the co-owner and operator of Gabriel Farms Inc., in Eudora.
The couple plan an April 3, 2009, wedding at Clarice L. Osborne Chapel at Baker University.

Dave Sparks, Emporia, and Stacy England, Winfield, along with Ross and Cherry Cummins, Olathe, announce the engagement of their children, Dana Sparks and Tyler Cummins, both of Lawrence.
The future bride is a 2003 graduate of Dodge City High School and plans to graduate May 2010 from Kansas University’s School of Pharmacy.
The future groom is a 2002 graduate of Buhler High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 2006. He is employed with the Kansas Golf Association in Lawrence.
The couple plan a Sept. 5, 2009, wedding at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.

The future bride is the daughter of Maurice and Debbie Haas, La Crosse. She is a 2004 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School and a 2008 graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. She earned an elementary education degree and is a fourth-grade teacher at Bishop Elementary School in Topeka.
The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 2008 graduate of Kansas Wesleyan. He earned a degree with dual majors in criminal justice and sociology and is a dairy manager at Hy-Vee in Lawrence.
The couple plan a June 13, 2009, wedding at St. Michael Church in La Crosse.

The future groom is the son of Mark and Patty Dozier, Iola, and Shelly Ellis, Cherryville. He is a graduate of Iola High School. He is studying auto mechanics at Johnson County Community College and is employed with Wal-Mart in Lawrence.
The couple plan a May 2, 2009, wedding in Ottawa.

The future bride is the daughter of Bill Atwell, Lawrence, and Angela Atwell, Surprise, Ariz. She attended Lawrence High School and is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in social work at Arizona State University.
The future groom is the son of Ismael Casas, Vera Cruz, Mexico, and Maury Hernandez, Youngtown, Ariz. He attended Peoria High School and is a neighborhood expert cook at Applebee’s Restaurant. He plans to attend a culinary arts institute in the near future.
The couple plan a May 29, 2009, wedding at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Sun City, Ariz.
