Karen and Duane Braden
The family of Duane and Karen Braden, Lawrence, will celebrate the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 8 at the home of Scott and Cammie Braden, 1406 Riverside Road, Lawrence.
Duane Braden and Karen Chamberlin were married Feb. 7, 1959, at First Christian Church in Lawrence.
Duane is retired. He is a graduate of Lawrence High School. Karen has worked at Star Signs, LLC for 18 years. She is also a graduate of LHS.
They have two sons, Scott and wife Cammie, and Chris and wife Wendi, all of Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts.

Darcie Rodgers and Waylon Ziesenis
Keith and Jeanie Rodgers announce the engagement of their daughter, Darcie Rodgers to Waylon Ziesenis, all of Eudora. Waylon is the son of Richard Ziesenis, Eudora, and Wayne and Shirley Rothmeyer, Bonner Springs.
The future bride is a 1999 graduate of Eudora High School and mother of Sydney Rae Elmer, 8.
The future groom has been an employee of Fidelity Information Solutions in Lenexa for nine years. He is the father of Joshua Ziesenis, 7, and Jacob Ziesenis, 2.
The couple plan a June 27, 2009, wedding at St. Margaret’s Church in Lawrence.

Phillip Pierce and Dana Myers
Dennis and Carla Anderson, Lecompton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Dana M. Myers, to Phillip D. Pierce, both of Tulsa, Okla. Phillip is the son of Chuck and Peggy Pierce, Fairway.
The future bride earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Kansas University. She is studying for a Master of Business Administration degree at Oklahoma State University and employed by Hilti.
The future groom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering at KU. He is also studying for an M.B.A. at OSU and employed by Wallace Engineering.
The couple plan a July 4, 2009, wedding at Frank Theis Park in Kansas City, Mo.

Molly Englebrake, Baldwin City, and Sean LaFaver, Topeka, were married Aug. 30, 2008, at the home of the bride’s parents, with the groom’s brother, Jeremy LaFaver, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mike and Judy Englebrake, Baldwin City. The groom is the son of Mary Faye LaFaver, Alexandria, Va., and the late John LaFaver.
Maid of Honor was Megan Englebrake. Best man was Travis Goff. Bridesmaids were Katie Allen, Meryl May, Mariah Spalding, Sara Sandusky, Megan Diercks and Rebecca Rorher. Groomsmen were Michael Holton, Christian Walter, Jeremy Bechtold, Adam Wright, Andy Diercks and Chris Small. Flower girl was Harleigh Hagen. Ringbearer was Alex O’Donohue. Soloist was Scott Newcomer. Personal attendant was Molly Wilder.
A reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents.

The bride is the daughter of Max and Phyllis Strunk, Perry. The groom is the son of Bryan Helm, Kansas City, Kan., and Pam Howey, Topeka.
Maid of honor was Suzanne Watson. Best man was Bryson Helm. Bridesmaids were Kahle Vincent and Sarah Balding. Groomsmen were Kirk Bates and Tim Beckham. Ringbearer was Parker Studer. Flower girl was Taylor Helm. Candlelighters were Ashley Watson and Brandon Watson. Ushers were Matt Watson and Kirk Bates. Guest book attendants were Beki Foreman and Andrea Box.
A reception followed at the church.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Washburn University.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of Anderson County Junior/Senior High School in Garnett.
The couple reside in Topeka.

Maid of honor was Linda Papa. Best man was Edmund Contoski. Bridesmaids were Sarah Stern, Jenny Stern and Holly Hill. Groomsmen were Kelly Thompson, Anthony Van Schmus and Devin Van Schmus. Flower girl was Madelin Dean.
A reception was given at Adams Alumni Center at Kansas University.
The bride earned degrees from Michigan and Indiana universities and KU. She retired from the electrical engineering and computer science department at KU.
The groom earned degrees from Minnesota and Wisconsin universities. He retired from the English department at KU.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride is the daughter of Ron and Lisa King, Lawrence. The groom is the son of John Blackstock, Orlando, and Claudette Morgan, Toronto, Canada.
Maid of honor was Meghan Walsh. Best man was Daryle Blackstock. Bridesmaids were Toni Ugolini and Michelle Harvick. Groomsmen were Devon Blackstock and Andrew Blackstock. The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and is an accountant for Lockheed Martin.
The groom is a graduate of Saint Catherine High School in Spanish Town, Jamaica. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and is a systems engineer for Lockheed Martin.
The couple reside in Orlando.
