Bailout protest planned in Franklin County

John McCain suspended his campaign, and President Bush delivered a prime-time address urging Capitol Hill leaders to pass the plan, which has a price tag of $700 billion.Members of the Kansas Congressional delegation and their election opponents talked to Statehouse reporter Scott Rothschild in a story for Thursday about protection for taxpayers in the deal.According to media reports, activists groups are also planning protests nationwide, including in this region.The liberal group True Majority has planned a protest from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday near the Franklin County Farmers Market outside Ottawa. The Web site for the protest says taxpayers should not have to fund the plan.
