Should birth-control school in Maine get federal funding?

Todd Tiahrt (R) !(The Eureka Reporter) Thompson honored for refuge advocacy: U.S. Rep Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena) was honored this week with an award from the Cooperative Alliance for Refuge Enhancement in recognition of his work as a steward of the National Wildlife Refuge System. Thompson was joined by Reps. Michael Castle (R-Del.), Norman D. Dicks (D-Wash.), Ron J. Kind (D-Wis.), Jim Saxton (R-N.J.) and Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.) in being recognized for their efforts to protect and fund the refuge system. The awards were presented at a Capitol Hill reception sponsored by CARE and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to mark the 10th anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act of 1997, according to a news release. The legislation is credited with laying the framework for a system that includes 548 refuges representing nearly 100 million acres of the most visually stunning and biologically diverse lands and waters in the U.S., stated the release. With at least one refuge in every state, the system attracts some 40 million visitors each year, according to the release.
