Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, and 12 other pro-life lawmakers who recently voted against an SCHIP bill that would extend health coverage to millions of uninsured children. The group is airing radio ads this week (listen to it here) on Christian radio stations in Wichita that criticize Tiahrt for upholding President Bush’s veto. … Tiahrt has argued that he supports SCHIP but wants it more focused on low-income children. Congress is still working on a compromise SCHIP bill — and the group hopes Tiahrt’s constituents will pressure him to back it.Sen. Sam Brownback (R) !(Farm & Ranch Guide) Brownback suppots ‘new uses’ in farm bill: U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) applauded inclusion in the Senate farm bill of a provision that would require the Secretary of Agriculture to hold an annual exposition of products made from bio-based materials. “I am pleased the Senate Agriculture Committee included in the farm bill my new uses expo amendment,” said Brownback. “Increased use of bio-based products creates jobs in rural areas, puts more money in farmers’ pockets, is good for the environment and is good for Kansas.”
