Music at the Lawrence Sidewalk Sale
If you live in Lawrence, then you probably partook in the madness that was the Sidewalk Sale. I didn’t go last year, because I didn’t want or need anything, and didn’t want to fall into a consumerism trap. But this year, I headed out because there’s more to the sidewalk sale than just shopping.
There’s community. There are old familiar faces, even at 5:50 a.m. (when I arrived at the sale). There are friends (and foes) you’ll run into, all sorts of goodies to eat, and of course, the street musicians. There was something to tickle everybody’s fancy (bluegrass, folk, some dude playing an instrument with a lighter). When I returned in the evening, I stumbled upon this dulcimer player, or as I like to call him, LIGHTNING HANDS! Golly, he’s fast!
Lightning hands parked himself next to one of the funnest spots in the sale, Sunflower Outdoor and Bike. I don’t know about you, but I love returning every year to see the Sunflower Outdoor and Bike guy perched up high, megaphone in hand, sometimes getting a little silly.
Enjoy a performance from Lightning Hands below.
