Journal-World Athletes of the Week: Xeva Oldridge and Colin Sandefur

This high school sports season, the Journal-World sports staff is highlighting a boy and girl athlete each week in Friday’s paper. As fall sports heat up, there’s already been several standouts.

Here are this week’s selections:

Xeva Oldridge, Bishop Seabury

Without a dominant performance by Oldridge, the Bishop Seabury volleyball team might’ve very well walked away from Tuesday’s crosstown battle against Veritas with a different result. Helping the Seahawks clear the Eagles in two sets, the sophomore finished the night with a match-high seven kills, 17 service aces and three digs.

Colin Sandefur, Lawrence High

Sandefur contributed four scores for the Lawrence High boys soccer team in Tuesday night’s 8-1 thrashing of Shawnee Heights on the road and is up to six goals just three matches into the season. As LHS seeks to remain spotless, Sandefur’s presence is sure to be a key part of the formula for the Lions.
