University of Kansas basketball recruiting

The Kansas women’s basketball team added to its 2025 class when Tatyonna Brown, a 6-foot-2 forward, announced her commitment to join the Jayhawks on Sunday.

Brown attends Air Academy High School, located at the Air Force Academy just outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her team reached the Colorado Class 5A Final Four in March, and Brown earned an all-tournament selection from Colorado Preps.

Her recruitment heated up considerably during the summer on the club circuit, when she was playing for the Colorado Hoopsters at the Power 24 event in late July. At that point, she received offers from Alabama, Cal, Rutgers, a slew of others and eventually KU on Aug. 1.

“I wanna thank the KU coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to play ball!” she wrote in a post on social media after her commitment. “Thank you and I appreciate you guys from the bottom of my heart. Rock Chalk!”

Brown becomes the second incoming player for the Jayhawks in next year’s freshman class, along with Cedar Rapids, Iowa, wing Libby Fandel, who is a top-50 prospect as assessed by both ESPN and the new 247Sports women’s basketball rankings.

KU is still in on a number of highly touted prospects, including five-star guard Keeley Parks from Norman, Oklahoma, who received an in-home visit from four members of the staff last week, and 247Sports has reported she is supposed to visit KU on Oct. 18. However, the Jayhawks are battling with schools such as Baylor, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in that recruitment.
