Southern California center Gabe Dynes (45) walks on the court during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game against Indiana in Los Angeles, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026.
USC transfer center Gabe Dynes, who stands 7-foot-5, is scheduled to visit KU on Sunday, his agent Adam Papas confirmed to the Journal-World on Monday afternoon.
The news was first reported by The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, who also noted that Dynes will visit Xavier, Kentucky, Louisville and N.C. State beforehand and is looking to put Georgia on the schedule.
If Dynes actually makes it to his KU visit, he could potentially provide depth for the Jayhawks’ frontcourt. KU added Utah transfer forward Keanu Dawes in the portal and on Tuesday night locked down center Paul Mbiya for his sophomore season after two weeks of uncertainty, but he is the only returning post player on the roster.
Dynes will be a senior next season. He has played in 91 career games and most recently averaged 2.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks for in 11.9 minutes per game for USC last season.
A native of Independence, Kentucky, he started his career at Youngstown State. He earned all-defensive honors each of his two years with the Penguins, still primarily coming off the bench, including during the 2024-25 campaign when he tallied 6.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game.
KU has been involved with a number of transfer centers, including receiving reported visits from Anton Bonke (Charlotte) and Christian Reeves (Charleston) in recent days. The Jayhawks’ current roster of scholarship players includes Dawes, Mbiya, Toledo transfer guard Leroy Blyden Jr., returning wing Kohl Rosario and a quartet of incoming freshmen.
