Local high school prospect Allen commits to KU men’s basketball

University of Kansas basketball recruiting
The Kansas men’s basketball team on Friday afternoon received a new high school commitment from a familiar source.
Corbin Allen, a 6-foot-6 point guard in the class of 2025, revealed that he is joining the Jayhawks next season.
“Blessed to announce my commitment to the University of Kansas!” he wrote in a post on X. “Thank you God for guiding me, and thank you to my family, teammates, and coaches for always believing in me. Ready for this next chapter!”
Allen recently wrapped up a distinguished career as the first-ever player to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Missouri. That is the same program out of which KU recruited Ochai Agbaji, and it is also currently coached by former Jayhawk standout Sherron Collins.
Collins and Allen led the Northmen to a 31-1 record and a state title, the first in program history, this past season. After the year was over, Allen was the co-winner of the male DiRenna Award for the best player in the Kansas City area, the second year in a row he had received it. According to KCHSHoops.com, Allen averaged 16.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game during the 2024-25 season.
On April 1, Allen decommitted from San Diego, his previous college destination, before electing to join the Jayhawks six weeks later.
Most of the scholarship offers Allen announced over the course of his recruitment were from mid-major schools, although he did receive one from the previous coaching staff at Oklahoma State in March 2023.
Allen is the 11th player KU has on its roster to fill 14 possible spots (pending any additional walk-ons who may be grandfathered in as a result of the House settlement). He joins returnees Flory Bidunga, Elmarko Jackson, Jamari McDowell, Noah Shelby and Bryson Tiller; incoming freshmen Samis Calderon and Darryn Peterson; and incoming transfers Melvin Council Jr., Jayden Dawson and Tre White.
