KU-Texas men’s hoops game in Austin pushed back a day to Feb. 23

Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji (30) puts up a three over Texas guard Courtney Ramey (3) during the first half, Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Big 12 Conference on Thursday announced three changes to its upcoming men’s basketball schedule, one of which involved Kansas.

The 23rd-ranked Jayhawks, who were previously scheduled to play No. 6 Texas in Austin, Texas, on Feb. 22, now will play the Longhorns on Feb. 23.

The game will still tip off at 8 p.m., but it will be shown on ESPN2 instead of ESPN.

The game will be a rematch of the Jayhawks’ 25-point home loss to UT on Jan. 2, which started Kansas down a path to a 3-5 record in the month of January.

The one-day change will give KU an extra day to prepare for the Longhorns — KU plays host to Texas Tech on Saturday, Feb. 20 — without cutting too much into the Jayhawks’ prep time for the regular season finale against No. 2 Baylor on Feb. 27 at Allen Fieldhouse.

Next up, Kansas will play at No. 17 West Virginia at 1 p.m. Saturday (on CBS) before returning home to host Oklahoma State at 8 p.m. on ESPN’s Big Monday on Feb. 8.

The two other games that received new dates Thursday were:

• Texas Tech at Oklahoma State has been moved from Feb. 23 to Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

• West Virginia at TCU has been moved from Feb. 22 to Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
