Journal-World Athletes of the Week: Irelyn Kennedy and Ryan Weishaar

A new round of postseason games have come, and with that, cross-country has finished its 2024 season. Here are the Journal-World’s Athletes of the Week:

Irelyn Kennedy, Baldwin High School

Irelyn Kennedy competed in the 4A cross-country state meet in Wamego and placed second overall with a time of 19 minutes, 51.92 seconds. She and the Baldwin Bulldogs placed third in the team rankings.

Ryan Weishaar, Free State High School

Ryan Weishaar stepped into an elevated role following the injury to Noah Sampson in Free State’s 49-26 playoff win against Olathe West. Weishaar finished with 15 carries for 112 yards in the win.
