The boys and girls wrestling seasons concluded over the weekend, and basketball began postseason play, bringing the winter sports season close to its conclusion. With those developments have come game-winning playoff performances for local athletes across sports. Here are this week’s selections for Journal-World Athletes of the Week:

Marley Doleman, Lawrence

Doleman hit five 3-pointers in Lawrence’s 49-47 win over Shawnee Mission Northwest in the first substate round. The final one was a deep buzzer-beater to win the game.

Zane Shaw, Free State

Shaw finished his wrestling career going 3-1 in the 6A state tournament, reaching the championship bout of his weight class and placing second.
