With January almost over, the winter sports season is entering its final full month, and teams and athletes are preparing for postseason competition and peaking at the right time. Here are this week’s selections for Journal-World Athletes of the Week:

Addie Fulscher, Free State

Fulscher made Free State history with eight 3-pointers in a game, a school record, while finishing with 28 points in a win over Blue Valley West on Tuesday.

Alex Oral, Lawrence

Oral won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke in Lawrence’s home senior night meet on Jan. 22 before finishing as the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in the Topeka High Invitational on Tuesday.
