The final week of the regular season for most of the spring sports is here, while other athletes are competing for regional, league and state honors. With that came star performances from local athletes in various contests. Here are this week’s selections for Journal-World Athletes of the week:

Kendall Feurt, Free State

In Free State softball’s regular-season finale, Feurt hit two home runs as the Firebirds beat Shawnee Mission North 14-3. Her two hits brought in five runs.

Andrew Kirkwood, Lawrence

Andrew Kirkwood, Lawrence High

Kirkwood tied for his best score of the season on Thursday in the third Sunflower League round, shooting a 77. His score tied for 14th and led the Lions.
