Lawrence and Free State’s girls swim and dive teams competed in the second meet of the season at Lawrence High School on Tuesday. The Free State girls won the meet, and Lawrence placed third.

Free State scored 351 points, 35 points more than the runner-up Lansing team. Lawrence finished with 210, beating Piper by four points.

“We are still figuring out what lineup we’re going to do, and for some of our faster girls, what events they’re going to do,” Lawrence coach Elle Weber said. “I think I have a little bit better of an idea after this meet than after (the) Emporia (meet).”

Only two girls competed in the diving event, one from Free State and Lawrence. Firebird Taylor Andrew led with a 159.05 final score, while Naomi Klopfenstein had 127.25 for her final score.

For relay teams, Free State won the 200-yard medley relay with a team of Jocelyn Wilson, Helena Mattes, Gayla Gao and Kendall Dobski finishing in 1 minute, 59.38 seconds. A second Free State team in the 200-yard medley finished third, with Ashlyn Johnson, Lillie Outcalt, Patty Cooper and Sophia Anderson finishing in 2:22.33.
