The winter sports season has started and local athletes have already made their impact felt for their respective teams. Here are this week’s selections for Journal-World Athletes of the Week:

Addie Fulscher, Free State

Fulscher and the Free State Firebirds won their season opener 62-46 over Atchison on Friday. In the game, Fulscher scored 16 points, which led the team, and hit all four of her 3-point attempts. She then scored 25 points with six 3s in Free State’s road win at Sumner Academy on Tuesday.

Jadin Harrell, Lawrence

In a small wrestling dual against Shawnee Mission West, Harrell was one of Lawrence’s four wrestlers to pin his opponent. Harrell had the fastest time, pinning his opponent in 16 seconds.
