Tavian Josenberger matches program record for hitting streak in KU’s series loss to NDSU

Freshman Tavian Josenberger made history for the Kansas baseball team during Sunday’s series finale with North Dakota State at Hoglund Ballpark.

In a 5-3 loss to the Bison, Josenberger extended his hitting streak to 24 games in a row with a hit by going 1-for-5 with two RBIs. It is a stretch that matches Jared Schweitzer for the program record for most consecutive games with a hit. Schweitzer accomplished that feat in 2005.

Josenberger, KU’s leadoff hitter, went 2-for-5 with two runs scored during a 10-2 victory over North Dakota State on Saturday. Josenberger also had a base knock in Friday’s series opener, which resulted in a 5-3 defeat for the Jayhawks.

Josenberger has also successfully reached base in 29 consecutive games for Kansas.

Also standing for the Jayhawks over the weekend, Maui Ahuna led the offense in the finale by going 3-for-5 with a double. James Consentino clobbered a pair of home runs on Saturday, leading the offense with three RBIs on a day where five players posted multi-hit efforts.

Kansas moved to 24-21 on the year after the weekend, while North Dakota State is now 28-13 overall.

KU will host Missouri State at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
