No. 25 KU tennis bounces back to top Tulsa for 4-3 win

Following a lopsided loss at Arkansas Friday afternoon, the No. 25 Kansas women’s tennis team bounced back with a 4-3 victory at Tulsa inside the Case Tennis Center on Sunday.

The Jayhawks, who were shutout in a 7-0 loss to the Razorback in their 2021 dual debut, were able to get in the win column with a balanced effort. KU won two of its three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Sonia Smagina and Vasiliki Karvouni earned a 6-2 win, while Julia Deming and Tiffany Lagarde recorded a 7-6 victory. Karvouni, Malkia Ngounoue and Carmen Manu all won their respective matches in singles action.

“Today we competed much better throughout the lineup,” Todd Chapman said in the team release. “Our ability to handle adversity and respond allowed us to put ourselves in positions to be successful. I’m proud of the choices and changes we made from Friday to today.”

Kansas will host Denver Friday, Feb. 12 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 12 p.m.
