Kansas softball upsets No. 18 Missouri in 4-3 win

Behind an all-around team effort, the Kansas softball team earned a 4-3 upset victory over No. 18 Missouri Tuesday night inside the Mizzou Softball Stadium.

Ashlyn Anderson crushed a solo homer to lead the offense. Sydnee Ramsey recorded a pair of hits and one RBI. Macy Omli also drove in a pair of runs for the Jayhawks, and that was all the offense that the visitors needed to support a prolific pitching performance.

Starter Hailey Reed gave up three runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings before handing the ball to Kasey Hamilton for the save. Hamilton only allowed one hit while recording the final five outs of the contest.

Kansas (20-15) scored three runs in the fifth en route to capturing its second win over a ranked opponent this season.

KU will host Texas Tech for a three-game series this weekend. The series opener is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Friday.

Kansas 0 1 0 0 3 0 0 0 — 4 7 0

Missouri 0 0 2 0 1 0 0 X — 3 6 0
