KU baseball suffers series loss at Oklahoma

The Kansas baseball team only won the second game of a three-game set against Oklahoma this past weekend at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Following the series loss, the Jayhawks are now 18-13 on the year. They have only won two games against Big 12 teams through three series, and are 2-7 in league play. Oklahoma moves to 16-13 overall, including a 3-6 clip against conference opponents.

KU started off the weekend with a 10-4 loss to OU on Friday, despite jumping out to an early 2-0 advantage in the top of the first. The Jayhawks surrendered five runs in the fifth, which proved to be the difference. Maui Ahuna led Kansas at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

The Jayhawks needed extras in the second game to earn a 8-7 win. James Cosentino clobbered a home run in the top of the 10th to help KU record its lone victory of the series. Cosentino, Skyler Messinger, Brett Vosik, Anthony Tulimero all recorded multi-hit games in the win.

Only seven innings were needed in the finale, with Kansas suffering a 14-3 defeat. Oklahoma did all of its damage in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Cosentino went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead KU in a losing effort.

Kansas will host Air Force for a two-game set on Tuesday and Wednesday.
