Free State’s boys swim team took home another win.

The Firebirds scored 506 points to place first out of six teams at the Shawnee Mission Northwest Invite on Monday. It is their second win in as many meets to start the 2020 portion of their schedule. Lawrence High placed third by scoring 353 points as a team.

FSHS finished first in four events, including a winning-time of 1:41.90 in the 200-yard medley relay by Benjamin Vorthmann, Riley Sirimongkhon-Dyck, Reilley Moore and Brady Flynn. Vorthmann won the 200 free (1:49.36), Moore finished first in the 100 butterfly (51.59) and Sirimongkhon-Dyck was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.64) for the Firebirds.

Free State also netted five runner-up finishes to win the meet by 59 points. Tyler Jones led the way for LHS by claiming second in the 500 freestyle. He finished with a time of 5:29.20 in the individual event.

Both teams will be in action at home for the first time in 2020. Free State hosts a meet this Thursday, while Lawrence High will host a meet on Thursday, Jan. 23.
