Tonganoxie baseball advances to Class 4A state tournament

For the second consecutive season, the Tonganoxie baseball team is headed to the state tournament.

Much like last year, the Chieftains pulled off an upset to return to the Class 4A state tournament. THS knocked off Iola by an 8-5 margin in the regional championship. Entering the game, Iola was undefeated and the No. 1 seed in the East Bracket.

Tonganoxie, the No. 8 seed, started the day off with an 11-10 win over Baldwin/Bishop Seabury in the Class 4A regional semifinal.

The Chieftains are now 12-9 on the year, and will travel to the Class 4A state tournament in Salina next weekend.
