Redshirt freshman Jeff Doty carded a 3-under 67 in the second round of the NCAA Stanford Regional at the Stanford Golf Course on Tuesday as the Kansas men’s golf team improved five strokes from round one and sits in 11th place.

Kansas put together a 283 (+3) second round and now sits with a 571 (+11) total score entering the regional’s final round on Wednesday. With one round left to play, the Jayhawks are looking to advance to the NCAA Championship for the second straight season.

In order to reach this feat, KU needs to finish inside the top five of the 13-team regional field. After two rounds, host Stanford leads the field at 545 (-15) and has a 10-stroke lead on Arizona State (555) and North Carolina (555).

Doty carded a team-best 67 (-3) in the second round and his 141 (+1) total score has him tied for 24th in the 75-golfer field and is eight strokes behind Stanford’s Isaiah Salinda (133) who currently sits in first place.

KU sophomore Ben Sigel is now tied for 34th overall in the field with junior Andy Spencer at 143 (+3) for their total scores. Senior Charlie Hillier is in a tie for 58th place with an 145 (+5).

The third and final round is set to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
