It is seemingly always a tightly-contested battle when Veritas and Cornerstone square off.

In Tuesday’s meeting, the Eagles got the best of their foes with a 58-56 road victory. Veritas scored double digits in each of the four quarters, including 17 in both the first and third period during the win.

Trey Huslig led Veritas with 16 points on 5-of-16 shooting, though he was one of three players to score in double figures. Tucker Flory finished with 14 points, while Will Rau added 11 points. Flory went 6-for-11 from the floor, and Rau hit 5-of-8 shot attempts for the night.

The narrow win came just one night after Veritas cruised to a 70-44 victory over St. Mary’s Monday night. In that win, Flory paced the team with 22 points on a 10-for-14 effort from the field. Scott Weinhold added 15 points, and Huslig finished with 14 points.

Veritas (8-4) plays host to Christ Prep Academy at 7 p.m. Thursday.
