Letter to the editor: Cruel to Cuba
To the editor:
The U.S. State Department has deployed another round of society-crippling tariffs against our neighbors in Cuba. Regardless of one’s position with respect to their country’s failed and corrupt leadership, I believe it is grossly immoral for our own government to try to achieve its political objectives by exacerbating a humanitarian crisis. The most recently announced tariffs are designed to create civilian hardship and suffering by multiplying an already severe energy crisis in order to turn Cubans against their government. This is clearly an immoral and arguably illegal strategy; we should stand against collective punishment to inflict human suffering as a government policy. Please consider contacting your congressional representatives and making your voices heard.
