Letter to the editor: Marshall’s ‘woke’ problem
To the editor:
Sen. Roger Marshall recently criticized the Rev. Adam Hamilton, his opponent in the upcoming election, as “Woke” and therefore unqualified for the position. I have known many Methodist pastors and congregants over many years, and they have all been “awake” to the teaching of Jesus and what it means to make them a part of one’s life: Love the Lord, love your neighbor, love the stranger, love those in need and love your enemy. I think the Rev. Hamilton’s ministry, and his recent decision to enter politics, reflect his desire to share this love with the people of Kansas. Sen. Marshall notes on his website that he and his wife taught Sunday school in the Great Bend Church of Christ for 25 years. I hope he will open his heart to treating the Rev. Hamilton with the respect he deserves.

Lawrence
