Letter: A joy to vote
To the editor
I normally prefer to vote on the assigned day in the church in our neighborhood. But after reflection, I decided to vote early this year at the 23rd Street voting center. Turns out, I can’t remember when I enjoyed voting more than I did that day. There were scores of people voting and everybody was friendly and upbeat and clearly pleased by what they were doing. I may be projecting, but the atmosphere seemed almost joyful. It’s great to live in a country where we have a constitutional right to vote. My first election was in 1960 when I voted for John F. Kennedy. I have voted in every election since then. The results have not always been to my liking, but I am always grateful for the opportunity to participate.
