To the editor:

Recently, the Journal-World wrote an article about the Supreme Court amendment that is on the ballot. You reported that Kansas is among 14 states that have a merit-based system. You failed to mention that no other state in the union chooses its justices exactly like Kansas does. Kansas gives the state bar association more control than other states. Kansas stands alone in its method. It needs to be changed because it is so unfair.

I would expect a newspaper to report that information. I should expect that from college professors too, but in every opinion column written by a college professor and published in your paper on this subject has failed to mention Kansas alone has chosen an unfair method to select our Supreme Court justices.

It is no surprise to anyone that professors push their agendas instead of the truth. That’s sad.
