To the Editor:

I want to support KU Coach Lance Leipold’s idea of hosting the KSHSAA Football State Championship games at KU and KSU football complexes. (LJWorld, Aug. 1, 2025). This would include teams from all divisions from 6A to 6-player divisions. Anyone like me who grew up in Lawrence in the ’50’s and ’60’s had to love football. Haskell Stadium on Friday nights for LHS football was the place to be. I have attended Kansas State Championship games at the 6A level as well as 8 man DI. Players at all levels deserve and would be thrilled at the chance to play in a complex as impressive as KU and KSU venues. Coach Leipold understands that. I hope he gains the support from the right people to make it happen.
