Letter to the editor: Unforgivable betrayal of Ukraine
To the editor:
President Trump called Ukraine’s renewed strikes on Russia’s oil refineries disgraceful. I find Trump blaming Ukraine for the price of diesel dishonest and disgraceful.
Russian oil was sanctioned until earlier this month and Russia has not been exporting any of its diesel due to the closing of the Strait of Hormuz. The reason gas, diesel and all petroleum products are so expensive right now is because of Trump’s war with Iran.
The Pentagon did war games for years playing out what would happen if we attacked Iran. The consequences were well known. No, Trump, the blame for high diesel prices is all yours and only your MAGA faithful are ignorant enough to believe anything you say.
Even more shameful is your treatment of Ukraine, shutting off intelligence and the internet in the middle of this war. It is shameful how you take the side of an authoritarian dictator who is bombing schools, shopping malls, apartment buildings, theaters and energy infrastructure. Sound familiar?
You said it was shameful that Ukraine didn’t concede given all the chances they’ve had to surrender. Surrendering means losing their country. All Putin has to do is leave. You are positioning our international posture to be one of alignment with Russia against Europe. I for one will never fight alongside Russia against Europe or NATO. So, shame on you, and shame on our Congress for allowing you to do all this damage to our country and our allies. It’s unforgivable.
