Letter to the editor: Last chance to save democracy

To the editor:

Folks, here’s where we stand. We have only one last chance to save our democracy, and that will be in the upcoming midterm elections. And they will be so crucial to our freedom that, temporarily, the old party names of Republicans and Democrats must fade into the background for a while. For this critical moment in our nation’s existence, they must take a back seat to more proper choices. The real contest will be between the “pro-democracy party” and the “anti-democracy party.”

I see only one hope for you who want to save our country from iron rule: a pro-democracy party majority in the House, or in the Senate, or — the best outcome of all — a majority in both houses. And, yes, that can only happen by voting for Democrats.

I think this, short of a military coup, is the only means left for us to block the present outrageous abuse of the executive branch and the trend toward autocracy.
