Letter to the editor: Executive madness
To the editor:
While anyone who expects consistency from the orange troll who currently occupies what remains of the White House is on a fool’s errand, he has recently outdone himself in his response to two unrelated incidents united only by their tragedy.
First there was the assassination of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk. Shot for no apparent reason, he joined the ranks of hundreds of Americans who have met the same fate just this year alone. Rather than take this incident as an opportunity to initiate a national debate on sensible gun control, the Blowhard in Chief responded with variations of “Nothing to see here,” “These things happen” and “Move on.”
Second came the shooting of two West Virginia National Guard members who for some unknown reason were patrolling the streets of Washington, D.C. Like the shooting of Kirk, these acts were unprovoked and seemingly random. They were committed by an Afghan man who was legally in this country. However, rather than treat this incident in the same way as the Kirk shooting, President Troll has used it as an opportunity to declare war on all immigrants, at least those from Third World (read nonwhite) countries.
Will he succeed in this latest example of executive madness? He probably will, unless our elected Republican representatives and senators put a stop to it. Unfortunately, given their sorry performance to date, I have little hope that this will happen.

Lawrence
