Letter to the editor: Protect our wetlands area

To the editor:

Please preserve the current wetlands footprint and don’t diminish what is already threatened by the New Boston Crossing project.

Please don’t seek profit from what looks to others as empty available land but is land that frames and supports the precious and unique wetlands. Noise, air, light and ground pollution cause damage when development veers too close to the natural environment that many in Lawrence as well as people across Kansas value so greatly!

Baker University and the wetlands founders have done so much good for the earth and society by protecting this wetland, all the wonderful life within it, and which is considered a most rare and beautiful feature in Kansas and the Midwest. Please know that your efforts are recognized and appreciated!

Susan Phillips,

Lawrence
