Letter to the editor: Chief of police appreciated

To the editor:

On behalf of The Chamber, I write to convey our sincere appreciation to Chief Rich Lockhart and the Lawrence Police Department for their exceptional efforts and swift resolution of recent tragic incidents in our downtown.

The chief’s open and frank communication is a vital element in the road ahead. We appreciate the ongoing discussions across our community as we work together to address these critically important issues.

In addition, the assignment of full-time police officers dedicated to the downtown district is a key step to ensure a safe and vibrant experience for all.
