To the editor:

Handmaidens to a criminal; astonishingly that is an accurate description of our Kansas GOP lawmakers, both federal and state. The disturbing news that Sen. Roger Marshall and the rest of the Kansas GOP climbed over one another in their rush to publicly grovel at the feet of Donald Trump following his recent conviction shows how far our elected GOP officials have departed from bedrock American and Kansan principles of honesty, morality and respect for law.

See the pattern, as these same stooges still deny the results of the free and fair 2020 presidential election, despite dozens of unsuccessful court challenges; and zero evidence to support their claims. Add in support of tyrannical violence to attempt an overthrow of that election.

Now a court verdict they don’t like causes our GOP officials to demonstrate again their inability to understand law and democracy, let alone any semblance of decency or ethics.

Every day these GOP handmaidens to a GOP criminal remain in office poses a grave threat to the laws, freedoms and social fabric of our state and nation. When election time comes, please remember this shameful GOP embrace of lawlessness and tyranny.
