To the editor:

First I should say I am a staunch supporter of the police department. So I read the recommendations from the oversight group with some interest. I am curious when an oversight committee for judges, doctors, other committees, etc. will be the newest “thing.” You see the list can go on and on. I don’t know how the members of the group were selected, but I do wonder how many have been on a ride-along (should it be a requirement?), how many have been attacked by a drug-impaired person, how many have been shot at and how many leave their home every work shift hoping to return to their family safe just because of the uniform they wear. Just a few thoughts from an outsider concerned about perhaps too much “oversight.”
