Letter to the editor: Administration should be cut

To the editor:

Thank you to the unions for calling out the Lawrence school board and administration for their “let them eat cake” arrogance.

The administration should absolutely take the same painful cuts as they and the school board are asking of students, parents and staff. To ask nothing of administration isn’t fair.

Further, what part of the budget is allocated for administration salaries, benefits, perks, (cars, cellphones, bonuses, etc.)? I haven’t seen that reported in the Journal-World.

I moved back to Lawrence from a place that shut down schools, cut teachers, support staff, teaching materials and after-school activities. Administration remained. That place was Cook County, Illinois. How’s that working these days?

The Lawrence school board and administration should reevaluate administration’s position. To do nothing is absolutely a “let them eat cake” attitude. We citizens should be very watchful.

Cindy Wamboldt,

Lawrence
