Letter to the editor: A harsh take

To the editor:

Matt Tait’s Jan. 26 piece on Dajuan Harris’ slump was truly a harsh one.

Focusing on Harris’ lack of scoring in recent games, especially the three losses to KSU, TCU and Baylor was disingenuous given the paucity of scoring by many of the other players. For example, during the Baylor game Jalen Wilson scored 23 and Grady Dick scored 24; their combined scoring of 47 points represents 68% of KU’s score of 69. The next highest scorer was Kevin McCullar with 14; the remaining scored in single digits. Scoring during the other two losses was equally dismal across the board — Wilson scored 30 against TCU, McCullar 10, and the rest (yes, including Harris) were either signal digits or zero.

I look forward to future articles about not only the rest of the team but analysis of why other prime players are having trouble at the basket.
