Letter to the editor: Meeting note
To the editor:
I was at the meeting on Jan. 12 about regulations for wind farms in Douglas County. The discussion grew heated only a few times: Planning Commission staff Sandra Day and Cece Riley did a great job keeping it civil.
It was indeed clear from the tenor of many comments and a show of hands that a majority of the attendees were deeply concerned about the possible negative impacts of commercial wind farms, but there were also some folks whose questions implied they were open-minded about wind farms, and there were people who were quiet. Ms. Day only asked for a show of hands of people opposed to commercial wind farms. Perhaps she assumed that folks supportive of wind energy wouldn’t speak up in that somewhat intimidating atmosphere.
