To the editor:

I heartily applaud the color scheme chosen by a newer family in the West Hills neighborhood. The colors evoke a light and airy feeling, suggest the “feel good” of springtime and reflect one of the best of American values: confidence!

I’m looking forward to driving by during the heat of the summer to experience the visual coolness presented by the color scheme; the house will be wrapped in the greens of the maturing trees surrounding it, and the house will offer a cooling respite for eyes tired and blurred by our summer heat and humidity.

A big thanks to the family/owners of this house for offering something new into the typically staid color conventions of so many neighborhoods around town. Your choices are subtle yet bold, soft yet striking, quiet yet daring! All desirable qualities in the spirit of living the American dream — and following your pursuit of happiness. Thank you!
