Letter to the editor: Don’t delay care

To the editor:

The COVID-19 pandemic led to significant changes in our daily lives, and our community has done the job they have been asked to do — stay home and stay safe. We want to remind you, though, that emergencies don’t follow the same rules. Heart attacks, strokes and injuries still demand emergency care and expertise.

COVID-19 hasn’t changed the fact that LMH Health is here to help you and your family, and we’re doing everything in our power to keep our staff, patients and community as safe as possible. You cannot safely put your health on hold. For immediate care, LMH Health and our outstanding physicians are here and ready to serve you when you need us most.

The Emergency Department is open and prepared, and providers are consistently practicing the highest safety measures. When you need us, you can be confident that we will provide care in the safest environment possible.

If you are experiencing symptoms that you believe to be a serious health event, call 911. Serious health events require immediate attention; if you are experiencing this, please do not delay seeking care. Our team is ready to assist in a moment of crisis.

Over the past many months, we have seen our doctors, nurses and the entire LMH Health workforce — from environmental services to administrative and support staff — bravely and skillfully do the jobs they are trained to do. It is inspiring, but it also serves as a reminder: We are here to care for you.

Just as our community has done their part during this pandemic, we are here to do ours – and we have been every day. Don’t wait. When emergencies happen, we are here to help.

Dr. James Mandigo, LMH Health chief of staff

Dr. Toni Reynolds, medical director of Emergency Services at LMH Health
